Artwork of the Month
This particular piece is from one of my favourite fantasy artists of all time: Larry Elmore. Larry was one of the most recognized artists back in the golden era of popular table top RPG 'Dungeons & Dragons'. This scene was lifted from a key moment in the series of Dragonlance novels written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. It features Laurana, a naive elven princess turned warrior through the brutal hardships of war. Lying slain at her feet is Sturm, a brave and honourable Solamnic Knight who got a little to brave when he decided to take on Dragon Highlord, Kitiara, while sat atop her rather large blue dragon, Ski. Sturm's noble sacrifice was a fantastic moment in the books and this particular scene was captured wonderfully by Larry.
Tracy Emin?
Yeah, whatever.
